For those who might not know it, and I am sure many of you do not know XD, that quite a longer while ago I shipped my Corvus with another OC called EmbersHeart.

She appeared several times in my animations so some may recognize her. Never than less I always wanted a ship which would include normal Pegasi and the Batwings and thus this Ship was born ^^

I will try to roughly explain what is going on in the picture.

Ember and Corvus know how it feels like to be chained for they have experienced slavery. During a process against Ember Corvus openly declared that he would take her punishment on himself. The stallion knew that his mate would end up in the Minotaur prison, which had a very grim reputation. Due to the local rules he had the law on his side because he spoke out the sentance in his language:

"My wings are her shield and sanctuary." 

With those words the stallion openly admited that Ember was his mate without her realizing it. The judges eventually agreed to let them switch places although many Minotaurs were outragged about the sentance. Corvus feared chains and slavery more than anything else, but he would rather face his greatest fears than let the Minotaurs harm the mare who stole his heart. And thus he was thrown into the grim prision and was beaten without any mercy. No information about his torture reached the day light, but the ponies knew what was happening in the prison.

Ember was not allowed to visit him, which is why she asked the local Batwings how to save him. Apperantly there was one way of protecting the stallion from his grim fate. An elder lady gave her a scarf made out of white silk. It was a very old and nearly forgotten tradition, but it was probably the only thing Ember could do for Corvus. Like himself she had to declare him her mate or better said her husband. Ember cried after she heard that Corvus declared his love towards her, and she cursed herself that she was unable to understand his language.

Without waiting any longer she ran to the judges and showed them the whit silk scarf. First they judges thought that she was joking, but the determination in her eyes showed them that she was dead serious. A new trail started on the same day on the behalf of the mare. The Batwing delegation demanded to respect the traditions of their kind, while the Minotaurs ragged that they dared to use nearly forgotten traditions as evidence for the trail, especially because Ember was not even a Batwing. 

After a very long day the judges agreed that the law was on the side of Ember. It was already late while the guards brought her to the prison. Her heart stopped to beat after she saw what the Minotaurs have done to him. The wounds which have been caused to him were terrible, some of them seemed to be infected already. His grey fur now was so pale one could say it was white and his body was literally glowing from fever. 

Realizing that this might have happend to her she reached Corvus with a heavy heart. Her eyes were long filled with tears before she touched him. Even his mahogany eyes seemed to have lost thier natural color, but once their eyes met the mare saw a slight ember of hope in his eyes.

"E-Ember...?" He asked in disbeliefe.

"I am here. I am here my love." She went on her knees and nuzzled him. "I should be here... not you. Forgive me..."

"Better m-me... than you my heart." Despite the pain written all over his body Ember saw love in his eyes. She let out a quiet cry of pain and placed the scarf on his head.

"Your wings are my shield and sanctuary." After saying that she kissed him and helped to leave this cursed prison.
