After encountering Shade in his mind the stallion was being haunted by the words of the Draconequus spirit that was dwelling in the blood line of his family since the first subjects startedd to inhabit the world. Although Corvus managed to overcome the influence of the ancient being certain things the fiend spoke to him he did not consider a lie.

Maybe he was right maybe not but Corvus would not take any chances and risk the life andd safety of his chilren. The Lesser One returnedd to Equestria only to look one last time at the place he called home only to leave again into seclusion which he hated and feared more than anything on earth.

But his family was far more important than his fears which is why he left Canterlot without saying anything and departed into Everfree Forest where he hoped to find a way to somehow be reuinited with his family again.
